Programme overview

Phase 1

The three 1:1 Executive coaching sessions are designed to elevate your levels of awareness and understanding of your identity as a Non-Executive Director and how you build, lead and advise through the competencies of our Advanced Non-Executive Director framework (ANED).

Drawing on best practice from prominent institutions such as NEDA, IoD, Corporate Governance Institute and Gov.uk we have developed a leading edge set of competencies, our ANED framework.

The ANED framework will be the core focus in session one, enabling you to evaluate your areas of strength and development opportunities. This will then drive out the key priorities of focus for sessions two and three.

This unique, immersive and hands-on practical approach to development is intended to build your independent and objective approach as a NED, underpinned by the principles of good governance, to ensure optimum impact and effectiveness.

Phase 2

Your Professional Coaching Qualification – NED Coaching with Confidence, is delivered through five full day modules. This programme will commence after session one of your 1:1 coaching in phase one.

CWC Pre Module

This module helps you to truly understand how you coach from the inside out, consciously acknowledging the ANED competencies covered in the 1:1 coaching. This module is specifically designed to bring greater clarity, insight and awareness into how you lead as a coach for the Boards you support, seeing them as a single entity.

CWC Module 1

Demonstrating self-awareness and building trust and rapport. Guided by our Global Board Excellence Framework you will understand how to build the right relationships with the Executives and Directors you partner with. How you bring balance to being both a colleague and critical friend. Creating psychological safety to build trusted partnerships and enable impactful coaching leadership conversations.

CWC Module 2

Listening and asking powerful questions. How effective is your listening to drive the most powerful questions to be tabled at the right time? How do you bring independent perspective to discussions that represent all facets of the organisation? How are you tuning in to the team dynamics at play? How are your levels of listening and questioning to ensure that you test underlying assumptions and beliefs?

CWC Module 3

Championing the Board and giving and receiving effective feedback & challenge. High support / High challenge mindset. How are you playing back team dynamics? How do you provide a counterweight to the influence of the other Directors? How is your ability to raise points of concern with management of the business? How is your capability to bring challenge and provide candid feedback on strategy, areas of risk, financial reporting and mergers/acquisitions?

CWC Module 4

Setting goals & reviewing progress. How to coach Boards to build effective strategies and systemic purpose-driven goals aligned to the needs of the whole organisation. Your plan to continue to stay ahead of the latest global trends such as climate change, data privacy and ESG, and hold your Boards to account to deliver.
