How do organisations create a talent pipeline of future leaders in a sustainable way, in which leaders themselves are fully engaged and play an active role in the selection, and more importantly in the development, of their own successors?
Having coached across High Potential and Leadership Development programmes for over 10 years I have always pointed out to organisations that they should share the investment between the talent and their leaders. And most of the time I have been told that there just isn’t the budget. And yet year after year the results and feedback were the same, ‘we got the best development through the coaching elements of the programme but my line manager was absent from my development’. What???!!!
Thank goodness for London Energy!
MRA are very proud of our partnership with London Energy. Having worked closely together over recent years we have connected directly with the businesses aims, it’s ambitious culture change programme, and it’s desire to become a ‘great place to work’. And it’s this close partnership that has resulted in a co-designed approach to encouraging leaders to be fully engaged in creating successful successors, and in developing the next generation of talented senior leaders.
And what’s even more powerful is London Energy’s commitment to developing the current senior leaders to co-deliver the Future leaders Programme! They genuinely own their own talent. All of the Senior Leadership Team have undertaken the MRA ‘Coaching with Confidence’ Level 5 training programme to up-skill their coaching leadership capability to allow them to coach their talent through the year long programme of development. This unique approach has seen the investment shared between the current SLT and the Future Leaders – everyone is developed, everyone is invested in, and everyone wants the programme to succeed!
Some key interventions:
- Line Managers are trained to Level 5 in Professional Coaching and then coach their talent throughout the year long programme, working in partnership with MRA Coaches for key interventions
- Self-awareness development (both internal and external) through psychometrics and large scale 360 feedback tools (50 stakeholders feeding back per person using EQ360 with MRA coaches)
- Diverse lessons in leadership facilitated to encourage the talent to widen their understanding of leadership theory, and to select a style that works well for them aligned to the organisational culture
- Resilience and Wellbeing programmes for everyone delivered by MRA to raise the awareness of the importance of Self Awareness, Physical Wellness, Mental Wellness, Thriving at work, and Meaningful Relationships in order to create sustainable leadership behaviours https://mraexecutivecoaching.com/programmes/resilience-wellbeing-team-coaching/
- Talking heads with the MD – a unique opportunity to spend 1:1 time with the London Energy MD and Board to understand the inner workings and ambitions at the most senior level across the organisation, giving everyone foresight of the future transformation programmes underway
And the role of MRA:
- Train the leaders to Level 5 in Professional Coaching
- Co-coach the talent through psychometrics and 360 feedback
- Deliver the Diverse lessons in leadership
- Train everyone through the Resilience and Wellbeing Programme
- And run the Welcome and Celebration events to open and close the programme with impact!
And it doesn’t stop there!
The MD, The FD and the HRD have all been trained through the MRA ‘Coaching with Confidence’ Level 5 training programme to ensure they truly live up to the ambition to create a coaching culture and a coaching leadership style for everyone at every level.
